Police probe abduction, carjacking of activist

DCI has dispatched forensic experts to Mumias, Eldama Ravine, and Kapsabet to investigate an alleged carjacking of a private investigator.


Jane Mugo, a renowned activity, and murder private investigator claims to have been carjacked at Burnt Forest. She is currently recuperating in an Eldoret Hospital.


Police are trying to establish possible collusion and cover-up, including faking car hacking and giving false information.


Police sources say Jane Mugo is being guarded on a 24-hour basis at the Eldoret Hospital to ensure no further contamination of the investigation and exhibits.

“KAKAMEGA COUNTY, MATUNGU SUB COUNTY
MATUNGU POLICE STATION.


SUBJECT: CAR HIJACK INCIDENT REPORT.


Ref OB No. 14/25/11/2021 at 1800 hrs and the incident occurred at 1600 hrs. It was reported by in charge Mayoni police post Sgt Godfrey Mburu that an unattended motor vehicle with engine running had been sighted at Soweto area beside the road along Mumias – Bungoma main road, Map Ref XR 960675 about 8 Kms East of the station.

Police officers from the post and DCI personnel from Mumias visited the scene and found motor vehicle reg no.KCN 222k make Toyota Prado Landcruiser TX black in color beside the road while facing Mumias direction and information gathered from Members of the public who were at the scene was that an unknown White motor vehicle was chasing the said motor vehicle from behind from Bungoma direction heading to Mumias direction and on reaching Soweto the occupants of the vehicle behind shot the front tires of the Prado mv deflating them and the vehicle stopped at the side of the road.

The occupants of Prado were whisked away by a gang of three and driven back to the direction of Bungoma. No bloodstains were found at the scene.
The Prado Motor vehicle had three occupants, one lady, and two men, who were not identified. The scene was processed and the motor vehicle was towed to Mumias Police station for further investigations.

SUSPECTED ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE REPORT.OB 11/25/11/2021 at 1900hrs. It was reported by Jane Mugo a Kikuyu female adult. That on 25/11/2021 at about 18:30hrs she was being driven from Bungoma on board her motor vehicle reg: KCN 222K make Toyota Prado black in color.

She was accompanied by her driver Kevin Okoth and another passenger namely Newton Manyana. Upon reaching Ainabkoi- Kapsabet junction, near Ainabkoi State forest, they were blocked by a black Subaru saloon car.

The occupants of the said saloon took control of her Prado leaving her behind whilst the driver and passenger to the saloon car were driven to an unknown destination. During the incident, the reportee sustained a deep cut on her head and both hands. Her Motor Vehicle, Her two mobile phones, and personal effects were stolen during the incident.

The victim was later assisted by members of the public to Kondoo Police station before being taken to Burnt Forest sub-county hospital. She was treated and later referred to Reale hospital in Eldoret town where she is recuperating. The victim cannot exactly comprehend the incident since she’s exhibiting signs of being in pain though appearing stable. The Scene was visited but no arrest or recovery was made. BARINGO COUNTY KOIBATEK SUB-COUNTY ELDAMA RAVINE POLICE STATION.

SUBJECT: INCIDENT REPORT. Refer my ob 60/25/11/2021 at 2310hrs.

It has been reported by one Gerishon Oliver a Luo male adult aged 26 years telephone number and Newton Mkoyanzi a Luhya male adult aged 34 years telephone number 0724394962 that today at around 1630 hrs they were onboard motor vehicle registration number KCN 222K Toyota land cruiser TX belonging to one Jane Mugo.

The motor vehicle was being driven by Newton Mkoyanzi from Bungoma towards Kisumu general direction where they were from a meeting. Along the way they were blocked by three motor vehicles registration numbers not captured about, six men alighted from the three motor vehicles all armed with AK-47 rifles.

They fired two shots one in the air and one bullet hitting the motor vehicle they were in. They were all blindfolded while being beaten with pieces of sticks. Gerishon Oliver sustained a fracture on the right leg below the knee while Newton Mkoyanzi sustained injuries on his body.

They were robbed of the motor vehicle and their mobile phones. They were bungled into the three motor vehicles and driven to an unknown destination. Along the way, they were forced to drink unknown substance. Gerishon Oliver and Newton Mkoyanzi were later at about 20.00 hrs dumbed at Narasha forest within Tinet area in Koibatek sub-county Baringo county m/r ZQ 057966 about 20kms west of the station, while Jane Mugo was taken to an unknown destination.

They were rescued by a good Samaritan who drove them to Torongo health center for treatment. The nurse on duty called police officers from Torongo police post who reported the same to the OCS Eldama Ravine police station. The two victims were referred to Eldama Ravine sub-county Hospital where they are admitted in fair condition. The whereabouts of Jane Mugo and her motor vehicle is currently not known.
