Police in Dagoretti have recovered eight kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa following an intelligence-led operation in Kawangware.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Muthangari Police Station were on patrol in the Kawangware 56 area on Thursday, August 21, when they received a tip-off from a member of the public about a suspicious individual at Gatina Primary School’s main gate.

The suspect, who was carrying two pieces of luggage, was intercepted by the officers.

A search of the bags revealed eight kilograms of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa.

The suspect was immediately arrested and escorted to Muthangari Police Station, where he remains in custody pending arraignment.

The recovered exhibits have since been processed and forwarded to the Government Chemist for forensic analysis.

In a statement, the NPS reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse, urging members of the public to continue sharing information that can assist in dismantling narcotic networks.
