President Paul Kagame on Tuesday officially opened the second edition of the Land Forces Commanders Symposium in Kigali, bringing together senior military leaders from across Africa and key international partners to strengthen continental security cooperation.
The two-day forum, hosted by the Rwanda Defence Force at the Intare Conference Arena, has drawn participants from more than 30 African nations.
Discussions focus on how land forces can better respond to evolving threats such as insurgencies, terrorism, and regional instability while promoting peace and collaboration.
In his keynote address, President Kagame underscored the importance of balancing speed and precision in military decision-making, noting that timely yet thoughtful action is essential in modern security operations.
He also urged African nations to take greater responsibility for their collective security, emphasizing that sustainable peace depends on self-reliance and unity.
The symposium continues through Wednesday with panel discussions, strategic briefings, and experience-sharing sessions among participating defence chiefs and experts.
