President Ruto, Top Leaders Mourn Nominated MCA Beth Wahito After Fatal Road Crash

President William Ruto has led the nation in mourning the death of Nyandarua County’s nominated MCA Beth Wahito, who perished in a tragic road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway on Saturday night.

In a statement of condolence, President Ruto described Wahito as “a solid grassroots mobiliser” and a “steadfast UDA supporter,” lauding her for championing progressive politics and delivering transformative ideas to her Njabini community.

“Beth will best be remembered for the many fresh ideas that transformed the lives of the people of Njabini. Rest in Peace, Mheshimiwa Beth,” said the President.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki echoed the sentiments, terming Wahito’s death a great loss to the people of Njabini and to the ruling party.

“She will be remembered for her relentless dedication to the economic empowerment of the people,” he said.

The accident occurred at around 11pm as Wahito was returning home from a budget committee meeting in Naivasha. Reports indicate her vehicle was hit at an intersection by a Guardian Angel bus, killing her on the spot.

Wahito was a seasoned public servant whose political career spanned over three decades. She held various leadership roles in the Democratic Party, served as NARC-Kenya’s chair in Nyandarua, and most recently worked as the Kinangop coordinator for UDA.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua paid tribute to Wahito, describing her as a people-centred leader and a source of inspiration.

“Her demise leaves a big gap in society and tears in many eyes beyond a painful grief,” he said.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru added that Wahito’s leadership “left a meaningful impact” in the region.

As messages of condolence pour in, leaders and residents alike are united in remembering a woman who dedicated her life to service.
