Prison warder sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for killing a student by careless driving.

BY PRUDENCE WANZA – A prison warder has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for killing a 22 year old University student.


Trial Magistrate Elector Rianyi found that Dismas Gitenge Motongwa caused the death of Maureen Wambui a Kenyatta University student through careless driving.


The court also found that the prison warder had lied to the court by reporting to Langata police station that had hit an animal near Ole Sereni hotel whte the accident occurred last year on 15th July,2018.


Motongwa was convicted last week on Thursday and his lawyer Danstan Omari had asked the court to grant him a non-custodial sentence.


During the hearing of the case it was revealed that Motongwa drove the body of the Wambui’s body which had stuck on top of his vehicle for three Kilometers and dumped it in South C area, Nairobi.
