Real estate agencies have reported a massive hike in land prices that has been triggered by developments around the busy channel.
Once complete, the Likoni footbridge will not only ease pedestrian movement between the Mombasa island and the mainland, but will also add the icing to the area’s tourism.
The footbridge will be located at the Liwatoni area in Mombasa, just a few meters from the Mama Ngina Waterfront which was also rehabilitated to boost the county’s tourism bank.
Likoni footbridge is being constructed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and is yet another game changer in infrastructure development in Kenya.
President Uhuru Kenyatta toured the site and termed the bridge a turn key in the economy of Mombasa.
“Kenyans will no longer wait for ferries to access either side of Mombasa island or mainland”, Kenyatta said.
