Cohen Murder case: Prosecution wants Sarah Wairimu charged with contempt of court

BY PRUDENCE WANZA – Prosecution has accused lawyer Philip Murgor and her client Sarah Wairimu of court contempt.

Catherine Mwaniki, told the court that Wairimu in the presence of her lawyer addressed the public on issues of evidence alleged to exist in the case during the funeral of Tob Cohen.

” The accused went ahead to threaten co-conspirators and potential witnesses saying that their days are numbered, ” said Mwaniki.

Mwaniki further told the court that Justice Jessie Lessit had issued orders stating that the DCI, DPP, the defence and victims should cease from addressing the media on investigations of the case.

Mwaniki urged the court to find Murgor and the accused person in contempt court by uttering words that caused public disturbance.

However Murgor objected saying that the prosecution should produce the clip and show how the accused person acted in contempt of court.

He further said that such accusations have been made to divert the court from plea taking and bail application.

“No one breached the court order or discussed investigation during the funeral the accused person did what a widow could do in the circumstances.” Said Murgor.

Murgor further urged the court to have the Prosecution file a formal application on the issue of court contempt after which he will reply.

Justice Stella Mutuku will make the ruling on whether there was court contempt on October 1.

Meanwhile Sarah Wairimu will remain in custody awaiting the ruling and plea taking
