Raila Charms Coast With Azimio Campaign

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga who is on a tour of the Coast region to popularize his Azimio la Umoja Initiative has told Coast residents that there is a basket of goodies awaiting them once elected the 5thPresident of this Country.

Speaking in Malindi, Kilifi County Mr. Odinga said the region has endured a lot of challenges both social and economic, depriving the communities of their roadmap to wealth creation and job opportunities.

With his administration at hand, Mr. Odinga said he will push for the more industrial-developed region to spur economic growth.

“I know this region has been going through a lot of challenges. Past regimes have failed to address burning issues like land ownership, the dwindling tourism sector among other issues. I can assure you that those issues will be properly dealt with. This region has a big potential for growth and should not be left out,” he said.

Mr. Odinga said the bottom-up approach that is being pushed by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto does not hold water for a country that has seen corruption taking center stage and, in the end, making more Kenyans remain poor.

Instead, he said he will introduce the country’s welfare fund that will be disbursing Sh6, 000 every month to Kenyans.

“It is going to be the biggest social welfare in Africa and its impact will be felt for generations to come,” said Mr Odinga.

He was accompanied by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, his Machakos Counterpart Alfred Mutua, Mombasa businessman Suleiman Shahbal, ASAL CAS Gideon Mung’aro, and Kilifi ODM Chairman Teddy Mwambire among other Kilifi leaders.
