Vaccine Drive Targetting Devolution Conference Kicks Off

The Council of Governors (CoG) announced a three-day immunization campaign for delegates attending the 7th Annual Devolution Conference in Makueni on Tuesday.

The immunization effort, which began on Tuesday, will take place at the Nairobi City Council’s Delta Corner headquarters in Westlands.

The initiative is part of a larger attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus and keep the positive rate below the World Health Organization’s recommended threshold of 5%. (WHO).

On Monday, Kenya reported a 0.7 percent positivity rate, one of the lowest in recent days, with only twelve cases selected from 1,730 samples analyzed in less than 24 hours.

Approximately 6 million people were reportedly immunized, with 2.1 million fully vaccinated. Adults who were fully immunized accounted for 7.7% of the population.

The Steering Committee for the devolution conference, which will be held at Makueni Boys’ High School from November 23 to November 26, 2021, said on Thursday that all 3,000 participants and 1,000 development partners will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to participate.
