Raila: I Will Not Retire From Politics

Raila Odinga, leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, has stated that he will not retire from active politics anytime soon.

While firing salvos at his political adversaries who have been piling pressure on him to step down from active politics and return to his rural home in Bondo, Odinga claimed that no one should decide when he should step down from politics.

He added that he knows how to get home and that he will return to Bondo only when he sees fit, not because of any outside pressure.

Odinga made the statements at the home of his sister-in-law Tabu Osewe in Bondo constituency, where he declared that the trip to liberate the country is still ongoing and that he cannot abandon it midway.

He clarified that he had opted to remain silent in order to allow the ongoing bipartisan talks to proceed smoothly, noting that he had chosen to give the bipartisan team adequate time to complete their deliberations uninterrupted.

Odinga indicated that once the bipartisan negotiations are over, he will provide direction, adding that they will determine whether or not to return to the streets based on the conclusion of the dialogue.
