Raila Unveils State House 2022 Bid

Raila Odinga, the head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has declared his presidential candidacy for 2022.

Raila made the announcement at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on Friday, December 10 during the Azimio La Umoja National Convention.

The ODM leader, who began his speech by recounting his arrest, declared that he had been committed to the Kenyan people and stayed true to the course of democracy, therefore justifying his decision to run for president next year.

Odinga also indicated that Azimio La Umoja will be renamed the Azimio La Umoja Movement, implying a potential partnership ahead of the 2022 general election.

Delegates to Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja Convention at the Kasarani Sports Complex in Nairobi included at least twenty governors and six Cabinet Secretaries.

Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Agriculture), Eugene Wamalwa (Defense), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Keriako Tobiko (Environment), Ukur Yatani (Treasury), and Cecily Kariuki (Water) were among the top government officials present at the event, where the Orange Democratic Movement leader was expected to declare his presidential bid for 2022.

All county chiefs from the Nyanza and Western regions were in attendance, with the exception of Migori’s Okoth Obado, who is linked with Deputy President William Ruto.

Only five governors from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home country attended the event.

James Nyoro (Kiambu), Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua), Martin Wambora (Embu), Nderitu Muriithi (Laikipia), and Lee Kinyanjui were among those present (Nakuru).

Kiraitu Murungi (Meru) and Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi), county chiefs from Mt Kenya East, were conspicuously absent.
