Chaos In Marsabit Forces Raila To Relocate Rally

On Thursday, police were forced to use tear gas to disperse supporters of rival candidates who clashed, disrupting Raila Odinga’s campaign rally at an Azimio rally in Marsabit.

Moyale also experienced the chaos blamed on sibling rivalry.

The rallies turned out to be a shouting match between supporters of UPIA movement party leader Ukur Yatani and supporters of United Democratic Movement (UDM) Mohamud Ali, who is running for re-election to the county’s top seat for a second term.

It all started when Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani was given the opportunity to speak at the rally.

However, as soon as he took the microphone, opponents began throwing stones at the podium, prompting police to intervene.

Some supporters were seen throwing stones at each other, while others attacked those waving posters and placards.

Following the fracas, Odinga and other leaders were forced to relocate their campaigns to Marsabit town.

Leaders condemned the violence and called for tolerance from political competitors.
