Raila: Azimio Protests To Start At 6.00AM

Raila Odinga has announced that the mass demonstrations scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, would begin at 6:00 a.m.

Raila instructed his supporters to show up unarmed and deliver petitions to the Kenya Kwanza administration during a press conference at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation.

He stated that the petitions, which would address various issues raised by the opposition, including the high cost of living, would be delivered to the President’s Office and three others.

Raila also stated that his procession would remain in designated areas along the Central Business District (CBD) and would not disrupt daily activities.

“Nobody should come up with an excuse that they will protect people’s properties. They want to take this country to the days when people were not allowed to protest,” he added.

Raila confirmed on Sunday, April 30, that he would lead his supporters in delivering petitions to the President’s Office, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the National Treasury, and the Public Service Commission (PSC).

On Monday, May 1, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome reiterated that the planned protests were still illegal, setting the stage for a possible clash between law enforcement officers and Azimio supporters.
