Raila Ushers President Uhuru In Kisumu Ahead Of Madaraka Day

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Kisumu on Sunday, May 30, for a three-day tour of the county. The president was received by ODM leader Raila Odinga, who was accompanied by Governor Anyang Nyong’o, alongside other county leaders.

Uhuru will lead the country in commemorating the 58th Madaraka Day, which will be held in Kisumu county.

In accordance with anti-COVID-19 regulations, the event will only be attended by invited visitors, with a maximum attendance of 3,000.

Speaking to the press on Saturday, May 29, at the Kisumu State Lodge, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena demanded that the COVID-19 containment procedures be followed.

The preparations for this year’s Madaraka Day national celebrations, which will take place in Kisumu on Tuesday, have been completed.

Nyanza Regional Commissioner Magu Mutindika stated that preparations for the festivities at the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium have been completed, and that rigorous security measures have been put in place in the Lakeside town ahead of the June 1st event.

Meanwhile, Kisumu is being spruced up in preparation for the national event, with the main roadways being beautified.
