Residents Surrender AK-47, G3 Rifle in Isiolo Under Operation Dumisha Usalama

By Andrew Kariuki

Members of the public in Isiolo North Sub-County have continued to support ongoing security efforts, with two residents voluntarily surrendering illegal firearms under the “Operation Dumisha Usalama” initiative.

The individuals, from the Lowangila area, handed over an AK-47 rifle and a G3 rifle to the National Police Service on April 13, 2026. The weapons were surrendered alongside magazines and ammunition.

Police confirmed that the recovered firearms and related items have since been secured in the station armoury as investigations and further procedures continue.

Authorities have commended the residents for cooperating with the operation, noting that public participation remains key in efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons.

The National Police Service has urged individuals still in possession of unlicensed firearms to take advantage of the ongoing amnesty period and surrender them to the nearest police station.

Operation Dumisha Usalama remains active as security agencies intensify efforts to eliminate illegal arms and enhance safety across Isiolo County.
