Friends and Family of the late rugby icon Benjamin Ayimba gathered at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Nairobi to pay their respects.
Ayimba succumbed to cerebral malaria while undergoing treatment in Nairobi.
The event that is part of his commemoration, saw many eulogizing the late Benja, as a humble and patriotic legend both in the field and at home.
Oduor Gangla, the Kenya Rugby Union chairperson eulogised Ayimba as a pioneer of sorts in the field.
“Benja touched the lives of all the people who he came across in a positive way. He left an indelible mark in the history of our rugby and our country. A man of many firsts, he lifted the name of this country well beyond the wildest dreams of this country. I thank God for the life of Benjamin. May he rest well”
Tomorrow, the procession will head to the RFUEA Grounds along Ngong Road, where the player made his career.
He will be buried on Friday June 11 in Siaya County
