Activist Challenges Ruto PS Nominations

The Nairobi resident claims that if the court does not halt the appointment process, Parliament will be debating or vetting an illegal list that is unconstitutional and does not reflect the principles of governance.

The High court of Kenya in Milimani has finally received a petition challenging the legality of President Ruto’s PS nominees.

The petition seeks to halt the vetting and swearing-in of candidates for the position of Principal Secretary.

Frederick Kiberi claims in his petition that President William Ruto’s list of PS nominees released last week does not reflect or ensure gender balance, regional balance, tribal balance, or inclusivity of marginalized communities.

“The action of H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya in nominating those who appear to be close to him at the expense of those perceived to be in opposition does not reflect his essence as a symbol of national unity and who ought to apply in total the principles of good governance as enlisted in article 1o of the Constitution of Kenya 2010,” court papers state.

The Nairobi resident claims that if the court does not halt the appointment process, Parliament will be debating or vetting an illegal list that is unconstitutional and does not reflect the principles of governance.

Bikeri, through lawyer Dunstan Omari, claims that the nominations do not reflect national representation, including but not limited to youth, people with disabilities, the marginalized, and the elderly.
