Ruto Reshuffles Cabinet After KEMSA 2 Scandal

Seven Principal Secretaries from the Ministries of Health, Sports, Environment, Agriculture, Water, and Interior have been reassigned

This comes after Dr. Josephine Mburu was fired over a brewing Malaria program scandal in the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

President William Ruto said the re-appointments were intended to ensure relevant state departments are well-suited to implement various state programs.

Esther Ngero, who worked in performance and management in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, has also been transferred to the State Department of Correctional Services under the Ministry of Interior.

In her place, the President has recommended Faith Njeri Harrison for appointment.

PS, Medical Services Peter Tum of the Ministry of Health has been sent to the Ministry of Sports, according to him.

Jonathan Mueke, who was replaced by Tum, will now work for the Ministry of Agriculture as the PS Livestock.

Following the reassignment of PS Ephantus Kimani, Gitonga Mugambi has been transferred to the Ministry of Environment under the State Department for Forestry.

Kimani has replaced Mugambi as the Irrigation PS at the Ministry of Water.

PS: Livestock Harry Kimutai has been transferred to the state department for medical services.

His counterpart in correctional services, Mary Muthoni, will take over as PS, Public Health and Professional Standards.

She will succeed former PS Josephine Mburu.
