Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has publicly apologized to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over her past comments.
Speaking in Nyeri on Sunday, May 1, at an event attended by the former Prime Minister, the soft-spoken politician revealed that her apology extended to the entire Mt Kenya, which once described him as a mad man.
He also defended the ODM leader against critics who claimed he never attended church services, claiming that she had witnessed him partaking in the Holy Sacrament.
”Those who used to tell us Raila does not go to church, today I saw him there and he even took sacrament at the ACK church in Nyeri. It is us who called him a mad man and we want to apologize to him on behalf of myself and the entire Mt Kenya region for tarnishing his name,” Sabina said.
“Some people will tell you that he even eats people but if he did so, Peter Kenneth would have been long gone so come and greet him and even touch him after the meeting so you can all confirm he is a good human being who will serve our country well,” she added.
She also promised to support Raila in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming August 9 General Election.
“I also want to thank you because you decided to come and hang out with us this Labour Day. We have seen that you have the respect of former President Mwai Kibaki even though he is departed.
“You respected him and declared ‘Kibaki Tosha’. We, the people of Central, are ready to declare ‘Baba Tosha'” she stated.
