Safari Rally Flag Off: Traffic To Be Disrupted In Nairobi On Thursday

Police have warned of possible disruption of traffic flow this morning in Nairobi over planned flagging off of this year’s World Rally Championship.

Nairobi motorists using Thika road and Uhuru Highway have been asked to find alternative routes between 8am and 12pm tomorrow, Thursday, June 24.

The events take place at KICC and Kasarani stadium. This means sections of Thika Road will be affected as the cars move from Kasarani to the city centre then to KICC for flaging off by President Uhuru Kenyatta and later to Naivasha.

The vehicles will pass through Parliament Road, Haile Selassie Avenue, Uhuru Highway, Wangari Mathai Road before heading back to Kasarani via the same road.

From Kasarani, the vehicles will then pass through Muthaiga and drive to Naivasha for the three-day event, which runs from June 24 to June 27.

Other roads to be temporarily closed outside Nairobi county would be Eldoret-Nakuru, Kericho-Nakuru, Nyahururu-Nakuru, Mombasa-Nairobi at Mlolongo area Mai Mahiu-Naivasha, and Narok-Mai Mahiu.

More traffic personnel have been placed on the routes to control traffic flow.
