Sauti Sol Threatens To Sue Raila– ODM Leader Reacts

Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM, has finally responded to Sautisol’s threat to sue him for using one of their songs during the running mate meeting at the KICC.

While praising their efforts, ODM tactfully apologized to them for being outstanding Kenyan patriots.

“We would like to assure our celebrated musical team Sautisol that we love them & appreciate their music so much. The group has carried our country’s flag so high in international fora & every Kenyan appreciates this. Playing their song yesterday was a show of love for their work, “reads the ODM statement.

On 16 May 2022, the Sauti Sol music group expressed their displeasure after Azimio La Umoja, led by Raila, used their Extravaganza song while unveiling Martha Karua’s running mate at the KICC.

The singers accused Raila of disrespecting artists by using one of their songs without permission in a strong statement.

Kenya Copyright Board has in a rejoinder said the Azimio leader violated their rights by not getting a synchronization license to play the video.

However, they cite the party was only granted access to their audio file and would need the extra license to be able to use their material on video.

The issue has led to mixed reactions from a section of the social media, who accuse the group of clout chasing, while others criticised Raila Odinga for violating the copyright.
