Shoke Shoke Festival Cancelled As Organizers Promise Refund

Shoke Shoke festival organisers announced the cancellation of the event slated for September 9, 2023, at Uhuru Gardens on Wednesday, citing unmet financial obligations.

The festival’s organisers said in a statement that many logistical and operational issues made the event impossible to hold.

The headlining act for this year’s edition was going to be Nigerian sensation Ruger, and other Kenyan musicians were also anticipated to delight the crowd.

Shoke Shoke tickets were already on sale, and a lot of fans had purchased them, but they were told that refunds would be processed within two months since the artists needed to be reimbursed for the inconvenience.

“We anticipate that the refunds will be processed within the next 45 to 60 days. We understand that waiting for a refund can be frustrating, and we request for and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.”

This is the festival’s second postponement this year.
