South African Artists to Receive Royalties From Facebook, TikTok and Netflix

Registered South African songwriters, composers and publishers whose music is on Netflix, Facebook, and Tiktok will now be receiving royalties. By Stephanie Mwangi.

This announcement was made by the Southern African Music Rights Organization (SAMRO).

“(SAMRO) is pleased to announce to you that we have entered into licensing agreements  with shirt form video content  on social media platforms Tiktok ,Facebook, Netflix and it is meant to benefit it members.”

According to the chairperson SAMRO will collect royalties on behalf of it members for all copyright protected content featured across all platforms.

In February this year Warner Bros a company that has signed Master KG demanded license fees to use his song ‘Jerusalema’ in dance videos.

The record label wrote to many organization across Germany asking them to pay up.
