Suleiman Shahbal, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), has landed a new role to spur trade in the region.
Mr. Shahbal was elected Chairman of the regional Parliament’s respected and influential Communication, Trade, and Investment Committee.
Shahbal committed to uniting members of the region to focus on security and economic challenges.
“I take this opportunity to sincerely thank my fellow EALA MPs from Kenya and the entire region for their support and confidence to have me lead this crucial committee,” he said.
The committee’s role is to oversight the work and activities of the EAC’s sectoral committee.
He described the victory as an honour for Kenya as it gives the country the opportunity to lead the process of developing regional alliances, and exploring investment prospects.
