The First Black Patch Class Of 1961

In 1961, the Prince Of Wales(Nairobi School) admitted the first black (Coloured) Kenyan students.

The school was initially an all whites institution that admitted only white students.

The mixed grill (above) is a memorable photo of the first blacks, taken in Junior House(Today’s Tana House) in 1961.

Today Nairobi School is among the celebrated national schools in Kenya.

It was hitherto a high cost school for the elite.

It retains one of the strongest alumni spread accross all continents in Europe, Asia, America and Australia.
