The wife of one of the two Indian men who were allegedly kidnapped and killed in Kenya has revealed how she struggled to find her husband on the day he went missing.
Ambreen Kidwai, the wife of Mr Mohammad Zaid Sami Kidwai, stated in a letter to the Indian High Commission in Nairobi that the two men arrived in Kenya on tourist visas in February 2022.
According to the woman, Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan, was a friend to her husband.
They had excused themselves to go out for drinks on the day they went missing. An account which has been confirmed by Dennis Itumbi an aide to President Ruto.
“At 22:45pm on July 22, 2022, they walked out of the Nairobi hotel where they were staying and went to a bar,” she told the High Commission.
Ms Kidwai said she called her husband a few minutes before midnight, and he said he’d leave the bar in 15 minutes.
She claimed she went to bed and awoke at 3 a.m. to find her husband had not yet returned.
She then began the lengthy search for the two men and their driver, Nicodemus Mwania, which is still ongoing.
She explained that she tried to call her husband but his phone was turned off.
She then called Mr Mwania, but his phone was also turned off.
The next day, she went to the bar where the two had been and demanded for CCTV footage, which showed that they had left just before 1 a.m.
According to the video, they boarded a Toyota sedan driven by Mr Mwania.
Ms Kidwai positively identified the car used by the two Indians to the police.
The men have not been found, but nine police officers from the now-defunct Special Service Unit have been arrested in connection with the disappearances.
