A suspected thug was last night shot dead in the Kabete area in a botched robbery and a homemade gun was found on him.
The suspect is said to have been in the company of two others and was attacking pedestrians when police were alerted.
Police say the hunt on the other suspects is ongoing.
The body was moved to the mortuary.
Police say they have intensified operations in the city ahead of the festivities.
