Police in Mariakani have arrested a truck driver, identified as Mark Ouma Maseno, after he was found transporting large quantities of cannabis sativa hidden in a container truck along the Mariakani-Mazeras road.

The truck, which had just offloaded potato sacks, was intercepted after officers discovered six huge bales containing approximately 6,000 rolls of bhang.

Upon interrogation, Maseno confessed to the police that he was ferrying the narcotics to Mombasa, cleverly concealing them among potato sacks to avoid detection.

Confirming the incident, Mombasa County Police Commander Peter Kimani said traffickers are changing tactics every day in order to confine and confiscate the identity of drugs.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
