An elderly man presumed to be an employee at the Teachers Service Commission was charged with stealing Ksh 820,000 from unsuspecting fresh graduate.

Ernest Molit Boen, the victim in the case, was introduced by a friend to Christopher Wambua, the accused, on March 20, 2021, and the accused introduced himself as an employee of TSC.

The complainant further stated that he was told that Mr. Wambua had connections for both local and international teaching jobs in China, Hong Kong, and Japan, and that the most common subjects to guarantee jobs were English, Math, Chemistry, and Physics.

The accused then produced a TSC employment form that appeared to be valid.

The accused person informed the complainant that the only way to secure a job in Asian countries was to part with some money, to which the complainant agreed.

After receiving the cash, the accused person vanished into thin air, prompting the complainant to seek justice through the criminal justice system.

The accused was later arrested on May 10, 2022 and arraigned in court on May 11, 2022.

He, however, denied the charges before Magistrate Caroline Muthoni and was released on a Ksh 400,000 bond with a similar cash bail.
