Two senior KDF officers are feared to have died at Kithyoko Kitui County after a helicopter crashed at Kanyonga area. The helicopter, a Hughes 500MD registered AU003-539 under the Kenya Army, crashed into a farm at Kithyoko area- By Gerald Gekara.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
In a statement on its social media page, the Kenya Defence Forces confirmed the incident, saying the pilots were undertaking a training exercise, and were airlifted from the crash site, shying away from disclosing the state of the pilots.
“The aircraft was on a training flight. Onboard were two pilots who have since been evacuated from the crash site.” read the KDF statement.
Investigations into the crash are being undertaken by the regular police, scenes of crime experts, aviation gurus, and the elite Military Police Corps from the department of defense.
