Olendu Elders Cooperative Society, which includes village elders from Kesses Sub County, approached Uasin Gichu County Governor with a proposal to establish a sawmilling facility.
In 2016, the elders obtained a loan of Sh2.5 million from the County Enterprise Development Fund, and the wheels of justice began to turn.
Since then, the Elders’ Cooperative Society has expanded from a sawmilling enterprise to include an Agro Vet shop, a Tree Nursery, and environmental preservation to replace the trees used as raw materials in their contemporary sawmill.

The Society is currently concentrating its efforts on establishing a milling factory to add value to its products.
They purchased the equipment after securing a loan of Sh 4 million from the Uasin Gishu County Government.
The Elders’ Cooperatives Society just received a tractor from the county government. Olendu Elders Cooperative Society Ltd was established in 2016 to serve village elders in Tarakwa Ward 1 of the Kesses Sub-county.

After purchasing the Wood-Mizer equipment in 2017, the elders embarked on the adventure of running a professional sawmill business.
The cooperative society has a positive credit history due to improved business operations and an excellent loan repayment record.
