UDA Responds To Ngirici

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has finally replied to claims made by Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici after she left the party on December 30.

While justifying her decision to abandon UDA, Ngirici stated that she was summoned and persuaded to abandon her gubernatorial ambitions in favor of another selected candidate.

The outspoken legislator claimed that she had been summoned by party authorities to stand down in favor of Governor Anne Waiguru.

Officials tried to persuade her to run for the Mwea parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket, she said.

UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina, on the other hand, has slammed the ambitious lawmaker’s assertions.

She refuted reports that Ngirici was summoned to Nairobi and pressured to withdraw her candidacy for the Kirinyaga governorship.

“No one has been summoned to the headquarters.” “Undemocratic summoning processes are not acceptable to our party,” she stated.

Those interested in running for the party ticket will go through a fair nomination process, according to the UDA SG, and no one will be forced to step down in favour of another candidate.
