Kenya’s Ambassador to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo has urged Kitui residents
to seize business opportunities in East African countries to improve
their income levels.
He said it is time for Kenyans to take advantage of cooperation
between the East African Countries on trade to expand their
businesses across the borders to also secure jobs to job seekers.
The Ambassador made the remarks in Mombasa when he met Kitui County professionals living in Mombasa County where he implored the youth to venture in small business in Uganda and other EA countries in the absence of salaried jobs.
” Kenya enjoys good relationship with Uganda hence need for Kenyans
to explore business opportunities in the Country to improve their
standards of living”, he said.
He promised to support those willing to do business in Uganda or access market for their products including horticultural produce.
Kiema added that since last year, he has helped ten women to venture in business in Uganda asserting that business is brisk for bananas and other horticultural produce.
One of the traders Francis Muema from Mutha location said his
business has grown from shoe maker to a boutique selling both men and women African countries and venture into businesses.
Kiema challenged the youth to aggressively seek political seats in
both both national and county leadership.
