Nairobi Metropolitan Services has announced that the city’s first Level 5 hospital will open its doors to patients.
The five-story Korogocho-Mathare hospital is expected to relieve pressure on Mama Lucy Hospital.
The Sh400 million facility is expected to serve over 2 million residents in Nairobi.
NMS director general Mohamed Badi informed the Senate Health Committee that President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to commission the facility this week.
Construction work had been suspended for several years before President Uhuru Kenyatta authorized the Badi-led administration to finalize the construction.
The 350-bed hospital has a 24-hour pharmacy, dialysis center, Dialysis, radiography, tuberculosis management, mortuary and autopsy services.
