According to NCBA Managing Director John Gachora, the lender is willing to pay the Sh350 million tax waiver if the court orders it.
The MD stated that the waiver obtained by the bank during the merger of CBA and NIC was legal and allowed.
“What I can assure Kenyans is that if the court determines that NCBA was not entitled to the waiver, we will send a cheque for Sh350 million the next day. I can assure you of that “the MD said during an interview with KTN News.
Gachora refuted claims made by some politicians that the bank has been evading tax payments to the Kenya Revenue Authority, claiming that the lender is tax compliant.
He called the claims deceptive and claimed that the bank received preferential treatment from the regime of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
