Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is starting to feel the Mutua heat after losing the Mutonguni Ward by-election in Kitui County to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap.

Mutua’s man, Musee Mati garnered 2,892 votes, beating Stephen Kithuka, who got 2,147 votes.

A candidate running under an independent party ticket, Jace Kavale took home 853 votes while Alex Nzau of Jubilee gathered 815 votes.

The Thursday by-election had narrowed down to a bitter Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, with each struggling to control the Ukambani vote, ahead of their announced 2022 presidential ambitions.

Dr. Alfred Mutua, who has been vocal of his ambitions to clinch the top seat, boasts a development track record with the latest being a cancer center at his back yard.
