Ababu Namwamba, the cabinet secretary for youth, sports, and the arts, presided over the 10th Vipingo Ridge Annual Triathlon in Kilifi County.

The triathlon, which consists of an open water 750-meter ocean swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run, unites the neighborhood for a moment of recreation and competition as participants contend with the arduous ocean tides, the energy-draining biking terrain, and the endurance-testing run.

All of this serves the noble goal of keeping the oceans alive through the Oceans Alive project. Namwamba hailed it as a fantastic platform for spotting talent and nurturing it using his well-known Bottom-up approach philosophy.

The department of Sports and the Arts PS Jonathan Mueke attended this year’s event, which aims to rebuild the ocean reef in Kilifi County in an effort to safeguard the sea and promote the blue economy.

As part of the Ministry’s effort to reward talent by putting money in the athletes’ pockets, cash prizes were given to the winners of the various categories.
