Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru finally joined the wheelbarrow team.
In a poetic birthday kick in the teeth to his professional and political mentor President Kenyatta, Waiguru decamped to the hustler nation to the delight of DP William Ruto.
Effectively, the Kirinyaga Governor has put herself in a collision course and cause with the deep state. But enhanced her chances of being Ruto’s GEMA partner for 2022.
Waiguru, the beautiful, assertive and youthful Kirinyaga Governor has been auditioning for the big political stage.
After an amicable divorce settlement with her first husband, Waiguru married lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in a fairy tale wedding two years ago.
This sanitized her family status, freeing her to appeal to the highly judgemental Kenyan society.
Assuming of course that ODM Raila Odinga is the preferred candidate for the system, the Agikuyu high and mighty may go after her politically.
She is not a political novice as many think. But she has no political biceps to take on President Kenyatta yet.
And so her political and professional past…laced with allegations of the graft may trail her to the wheelbarrow bliss that she has called upon herself.
Waiguru’s decision to ride the wheelbarrow party comes after a protracted battle in Central Province over who to back between Raila and Ruto.
The Kirinyaga Governor was untouchable during President Uhuruto first term between 2013 and 2017.
She survived the NYS 1 and 2 scandals despite being mentioned adversely by junior officers in the Ministry of Devolution.
Her defection confirms that the GEMA nation has not abandoned the DP fully…for the elephant political enemy Raila Odinga.
At one time, Waiguru was so powerful during her cabinet days that she could even influence the sacking of top government officials.
Although she was vindicated over the NYS scandals, she has variously been accused of graft.
Currently, she is on the radar of the EACC over procurement irregularities involving Kirinyaga County.
Waiguru may as well be deployed as Ruto’s running mate in 2022.
Waiguru decamped to UDA after meeting with Deputy President William Ruto.
Wheelbarrow intelligence says Waiguru defected alongside Kirinyaga County Assembly members close to President Kenyatta.
Waiguru intimated that she was pondering making the switch during an interview on September 6, but she remained tight-lipped about it.
“I don’t believe now is the appropriate moment to have that discussion. I can’t answer if I would or would not. This is politics, but it’s still early in the game. Let’s have a look at the ground, shall we? “she explained.
Waiguru will run against NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, and Purity Ngirici, the woman representative for Kirinyaga County.
