Wandayi: Housing Levy Is A Pyramid Scheme

Minority Leader of the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi has compared the Housing Levy proposed in Finance Bill to the famous pyramid scheme.

Speaking in Parliament during the debate of the bill on Wednesday, Wandayi said the proposal can seriously spark a revolution in Kenya.

“You cannot be busy fighting alcoholism and drug abuse yet you are keeping the youth from their jobs. Kenyans have heard enough of the lies, I can tell you that this bill will spark a revolution,” he said.

“Kenyans must say no to the housing levy and the bill, Mr Speaker, the levy is a perfect example of a pyramid scheme.”

On the proposed tax on wigs and other beauty products, Wandayi said the government is clearly not on the side of Kenyans.

“This government does not want to see our people looking good and beautiful. Those beauty parlours and barber shops have employed people, what does that mean to the common mwananchi who fully depends on selling beauty products?” he posed.

He went on to say that Kenyans are watching, adding that at the end of the day, it will not matter whether the bill passes or not.

“What will matter is where you stand as a leader of this country. The mood out there is a make or break point.”
