Wanjigi Freed After Dramatic Siege

Jimi Wanjigi, an ODM aspirant in the 2022 presidential elections has been arraigned at Milimani Law Courts after the dramatic arrest.

Although there was a High Court counter order blocking a warrant of arrest, Jimi was presented and subjected through a lengthy police protocol.

He appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate,Benard Ochoi.

He was charged with six offenses including; conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery of title deed, uttering a false document, forging a Grant among other offenses.

The offenses are said to have been committed between 9th April 2010 and 5th June 2018.

Justice Anthony Mrima had earlier on issued a conservatory order stopping Wanjigi’s arrest in a petition filed under a certificate of urgency.

The order intended to block his arrest until 9th February 2022 when the case against DCI Kinoti will be heard.

He was released by the Court on grounds of a conservatory order issued by the High Court.

Justice Benard Ochoi while releasing him said“In light of the submissions, it is noted that the High Court issued conservatory orders barring the arrest and prosecution of Wanjigi and his wife Irene Nzisa. Therefore the criminal proceedings against him cannot proceed until further directions are issued by the High Court.”
