Wavinya Ndeti is in the mood and mould of executing a political coup in Machakos County.
The beautiful but politically dangerous schemer hopes to be the de facto leader of the County ladies trio…composed of whoever is elected Women Representative and Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama.
Effectively, Machakos County will become the first elective unit in Kenya to be ruled by three women…if the plan falls into place.
Senator Kavindu and Women Representative Joyce Kamene, Ndeti and Florence Mwangangi are all very strong Wiper Party leaders.
Wavinya, the CAS in the Ministry of Public Works and Mwangangi will square it for the Wiper Gubernatorial ticket.
The two gracious ladies are hoping to arm-twist Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to grant them the covered Wiper ticket.
Wavinya joined Wiper in 2016 from CCM and has been an ever-present persona in Party affairs.
Mwangangi is the speaker of the Machakos County Assembly and mother of flamboyant Ministry of Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi.
Mwangangi is a lawyer by profession. Wavinya is a Public Administration and hard-nosed operator and a former Member of Parliament for Kathiani Constituency.
She hails from the larger Kathiani Constituency a scion of the powerful Ndeti family which owns large tracks of land in the former Mavoko Municipality, now Athi River Constituency.
Mwangangi was the inaugural Judicial Service Commission(JSC) lawyers, Representative. She commands respect among peers in Machakos and beyond.
The family owns the popular Hotel Connections Entertainment joint in Mlolongo.
Its business empire is run by Raphael Mwangangi, a former senior police officer.
Ndeti, a widow was married to a wealthy Nigerian entrepreneur who passed on some 12 years ago.
Bedroom matters may play out in Machakos Politics big time.
Should UDA financier Johnstone Muthama win the seat and his wife Kavindu become Senator, Machakos will be administered from the home of the Muthamas.
Kalonzo is determined to allow internal democracy to thrive in Wiper. He has opened all the Wiper doors and windows to all Ukambani political aspirants and has vowed to favour no candidates in Machakos, Kitui and Makueni.
The three counties form the bedrock of Wiper in Ukambani.
Machakos is considered the epicentre of Ukambani.
It is seen as the political capital of Lower Eastern. It is one area Wiper will be determined to lock out other parties to preserve the political integrity of the Kamba Community.
State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has all but confirmed his interest in the Machakos County Gubernatorial seat.
Waita, headhunted from Safaricom to pivot President Uhuru Kenyatta”s delivery unit is under pressure to join Wiper.
Like Kalonzo, Waita is a lawyer and respected professional.
He is expected to be a key player in Ukambani politics alongside Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Kitui Senator Enock Wambua.
His father, the late Raphael Mwangangi Waita helped the likes of Muthama grow their business empires.
The senior Waita assisted Kamba professionals to get scholarships to the US. He remained however apolitical.
Wavinya is a first cousin of UDA Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka.
She is also related to Mwangangi, turning Machakos political contests into a sibling territorial duel.
Deputy Governor Maliti is the other fierce contender for Governor of Machakos.
He enjoys the incumbency status as Dr Alfred Mutua’s principal assistant. He will be getting and accessing logistical support from his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party and his boss Mutua.
He will inherit the political network of the incumbent Governor and a war chest assembled by Mutua in the last five years.
Machakos County staff and contractors have been urged to support him…so that they can create the base for Mutua Presidency.
Things are elephant in Machakos County.
