Woman charged with allegedly swindling Ksh 400,000 in fake jobs scam

A middle-aged woman was today arraigned in Court for swindling money from unsuspecting jobless Kenyans while promising them lucrative jobs abroad.

Faith Cherotich Ngeno was today charged with obtaining money from guardian pretending she would secure Qatar and Australian Visas for his nephew and niece.

According to the charge sheet, Faith is said to have obtained Ksh 400,000 from Elijah Kimenjo on March 23, 2023, by falsely pretending she would help his nephew and niece secure Visas for the two states.

She is said to have disappeared into thin air after receiving the money, forcing the complainant to report the matter to the authorities where she was later tracked and arrested.

She appeared before Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and denied the charges.

The Court released her on Ksh 100,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 50,000.
