Woman Committs Suicide After Testing Positive For COVID-19

A lady allegedly hanged herself on Monday in the AIC Kijabe Hospital after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Confirming the incident, Lari Sub-county Police Commander Stephen Kirui stated that the lady was alone in the isolation unit because no other Covid-19 patients were admitted to the facility.

The 64-year-old woman was hospitalized to the facility on June 14 with a variety of diseases, but after being diagnosed with Covid-19, she was moved to another ward.

“The incident has been booked as a suicide case, but the DCI investigators are conducting extensive investigations to determine the true cause of the tragedy.” Kirui said.

The woman may have been traumatized after learning she had Covid-19, according to the police chief, who added that they are awaiting the results of a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.
