World 5000m champion Hellen Obiri and previous national cross country champion Rodgers Kwemoi ruled supreme after winning the Istanbul Half Marathon on Sunday morning,
Tsehay Gemechu and Bekelech Gudeta of Ethiopia won gold in the women’s event with a time of one hour, four minutes, and forty-eight seconds.
Kwemoi, who hails from Japan, set a new track record of 00:59:15 to win gold and lead Kenya to a clean sweep, with Daniel Mateiko and Emmanuel Bor finishing second and third, respectively.
Mateiko finished with a time of 01:00:05, while Bor, the reigning Nandi Road Race winner, finished in a time of 01:00:20.
