Wildlife Day: Why Partnership Are Key To Wildlife Conservation

World Wildlife Day, which takes place on March 3, is an international holiday recognized by the United Nations to honour all wild animals and plants and their positive impact on human health and the environment.

World Wildlife Day will be observed this year with the theme “Partnerships for wildlife conservation,” celebrating those who are making a difference in the world.

The Day serves as a timely reminder that wildlife crime and species extinction brought on by humans must be aggressively combated because they have significant negative effects on the economy, the environment, and society.

Billions of Requirements are Satisfied by 50,000 Wild Species While 2.4 billion people rely on wood fuel for cooking, 1 in 5 people worldwide depend on wild species for their livelihood and nourishment.

Peninah Malonza, CS Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, admired how communities and stakeholders were making a difference and contributing to the preservation of our wildlife.

“Today we celebrate our communities, partners and stakeholders who are making a difference in wildlife conservation, even as we appreciate the natural value of wildlife and its contribution to our country,” said CS Malonza.

“Together, we can make a difference and secure a sustainable future for our wildlife,” she added.

Also, in collaboration with the Kenya Wildlife Service, Karakana Initiative’s flagship initiative PhotoKenya, which celebrates World Wildlife Day, has organized yet another photo show.

The exhibition will be on display at the KWS facilities in Lang’ata, Nairobi, from March 3 to 14, with the venue being open everyday from 10 am to 5 pm.
