You Must Test Negative To Visit Mombasa — Joho

The county government of Mombasa has introduced strict guidelines to guide its residents and revelers amid the COVID-19 third wave in Kenya. – By Gerald Gekara.

In a statement to the public, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho directed a mandatory COVID-19 test at the Mombasa borders.

The governor also recommended a voluntary switch from the Kenya ferry services to the Liwatoni footbridge to avoid connection.

According to the guidelines, matatus terminating at the Kenya ferry docks will be redirected to the Liwatoni stage so as to facilitate smooth transit on to the billion shilling infrastructure.

Furthermore the government of Mombasa is mooting for people aged 55 and above to show up for vaccine inoculations as they are at risk of death.

The moves comes just under day 4 of the partial lock down imposed on five counties, Naitobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Kajiado and Nakuru.

The counties have been marked disease zones, prompting the government to impose tough measures such as a revised curfew and partial closure of government services.

The total confirmed infections in the country rose to 131,116 with a positivity rate of 26.6 per cent.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, said the total number of recoveries from the virus is 92,161.

Kenya’s cumulative fatalities rose to 2,135.
