Kenya Airways diverts flights after heavy Nairobi rains

Kenya Airways has said it diverted some flights to Mombasa after heavy overnight rainfall in Nairobi and the surrounding areas.

In a statement on March 7, the airline said the adverse weather also caused delays and disruptions to several other scheduled flights, including those departing from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday.

Passengers have been advised that flight times may change as the airline works to return operations to normal later in the evening.

“The heavy overnight downpour in parts of Nairobi and its environs caused disruption to some of our scheduled flights,” KQ stated.

“Due to the adverse weather conditions, some of our flights were also diverted to Mombasa.”

Kenya Airways advised travellers departing from JKIA to monitor flight status closely and update contact information via the Manage Booking portal. Assistance is available through the Customer Excellence Team at +254 711 024 747, WhatsApp +254 705 474 747, or via X at @KQSupport.
