Motor vehicles crossing the Likoni channel are set to experience smoother ferry crossings after Safaricom introduced MPESA payments for the service. – By Joseph Mukala.
The move will enhance revenue collection and improve efficiency in ferry service management.
Kenya Ferry Managing Director Bakari Gowa said the digitization of the payments is part of the turnkey efficiency moves by the board.
“Customers can now pay conveniently and easing the wait at either side of the Likoni channels.” He said.

The Kenya Ferry aides an estimated 400,000 people daily to and from the Likoni channel.
It is among the busiest sea crossing channels in the world.
Currently, the Government is constructing a floating foot bridge to ease congestion at the port. Once complete the footbridge will offer an ulternative to the busy channel.
The masterpiece that is a first in the continent, will be able to contract inorder to pave way for massive ships passing through the channel.
