Wanjigi Ordered To Surrender Arsenal

The Directorate of Criminal Investigtions has given ODM Presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi 72 hours to surrender 11 firearms.

Wanjigi has also been told to submit 485 ammunitions held illegally failure to which he’ll be arrested.

The weapons include; A Chinese CQ automatic machine gun, two Ceska Pistols, Shot Gun, 4 Glock pistols, an unamed Rifle, and a Gilboa rifle gun.

“In this regard, the Directorate has in the past few Months conducted extensive investigations and established that you are in Possession of Firearms and ammunitions that are deemed to be illegally held.”

DCI, in the detailed letter explained its raid on a land investigation incident at his Kwacha offices.

According to the investigations, an armed ex-GSU officer was enlisted as a bodyguard, without necessary documentation.

“The said person disclosed that you had armed him as your bodyguard. It was later established that the said person is one Josephat Onyiego Mogendi, an Ex-GSU Officer previously attached to the elite RECCE Company. The establishment of the fact that the Officer is an ex-GSU is an indication of a high-level scheme that you have congregated highly trained persons in the use of firearms for ulterior motives.”

Jimi Wanjigi has also been accused of skipping mandatory vetting as required by Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi, and the Firearms and lincensing board.

“Since then, there has been no indication or evidence of you having attended the said Mandatory Vetting as required by the Cabinet Secretary. Further on the 26th November 2021 the Firearm Licensing Board required you to appear before it for vetting which requirement you have refused and or failed to heed.”

Jimi Wanjigi has long maintained his weapons were legal and the accusations were mere political malice aimed at tainting his name.
