Edwin Mutemi Kiama commonly known as Wakiama has been freed on a Ksh.500,000 cash bail.
The activist, whose arrest was greatly protested on social media, will now stay away from his social media accounts.
He will also provide a daily report to the investigating officer daily until his case will be mentioned in April 20th, 2021.
The police were granted permission to investigate his alleged cybercrime offence after circulating a ‘public notice’ using images of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
He will be charged for Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act No.5 of 2018.
Kiama was arrested over two posters warning the International Monetary Fund (IMF) against issuing further loans to Kenya, more directly to President Kenyatta and his DP Ruto.
Other suspects thought to be behind the poster production are being sought after by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
